Dear People,
The walking wounded are among us, including in the military and in families. Most of us are wounded in some way, some more than others.
My condolences go to the families of those killed at Fort Hood, Texas in the recent attack by alleged perpetrator, Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.
My thoughts and concerns go out to the injured and their families.
My thoughts and concerns also go to Maj. Hasan, himself, and his family and with American-Arabs, Muslims, Middle Easterners, etc. who may receive a backlash of harassment and possible hate attacks.
May Justice and Peace Prevail.
Anne, The traumatic stress is not only for the combat soldiers but for the "first responders" those who are tendng to the soldiers. It is called Secondary Post Traumatic Stress. I suffered SPTS while I was with Jason at Walter Reed and saw staff burn out. I am sure Major Hassan is suffering from this "burnout" He may believe he was saving the soldiers from suffering. It must be so very difficult to listen to the combat stories and atrocities of war and know soldiers are doing this to your people.
